“Continued success of royalty‑free licensing and our plans for a phased retirement of rights‑managed creative images”

Getty images, the most responsible and hugest database company for the decline of the stock photography business and for putting professional photographers out of business – is doing the final nail in the coffin for us. „Us” means professional nature photographers who are photographing unique nature -and animal habitats. We won’t have any appreciable income and compensations for our HIGH costs. Nikon and/or Canon equipment, Airline tickets, professional guides, very remote accommodation possibilities and so on … Getty images are no longer accepting Rights Managed images and will remove all Rights Managed Images from their website and leaving only Royalty Free images for sale. Royalty Free means the photographer gets a tiny payment and the buyer gets all rights to a collection of images. The agency makes money through sheer volume and automation of sales while the photographer has no chance of staying in business.
