Last day on the sea - farewell to Pico

On the last day of my latest trip to the Azores, a couple of sperm whales showed up again (the English version of Wikipedia uses the my website as a reference for sperm whales). The sperm whales were very shy, and it was not easy to photograph them underwater. Visibility was also not particularly good. The sperm whales behaved quite differently from how they did last September when I was here. In September I was able to swim and dive with the whales without them quickly swimming off.

See my weblog entry from September 2006.

Now I have to say goodbye to the Azores once again, and dream of my next trip here. I may possibly return to Pico for a week in September.

After me, a crew from Galatée Films came to espacotalassa, to film and photograph blue whales for the giant film project Oceans. João Quaresma - my guide and photographer - will be their guide too. They only take the best people!

The famous American photographer with a typically German name - Richard Herrmann - whom I got to know on Pico, is also part of the Galatée film crew..
