Spotted dolphins and bottlenose dolphins
After the eventful day yesterday, today it continued with schools of Atlantic spotted dolphins and bottlenose dolphins. The animals were in a very playful mood. I had a nice experience when my snorkel fell into the water and a spotted dolphin examined it. The dolphin kept on butting against a red cap on the snorkel, and nibbled it a bit. I jumped into the water, so as not to lose the snorkel. On noticing me, the dolphin was quickly gone again.
The encounters with the bottlenose dolphins were very far from the starting base of espacotalassa, between São Jorge and Pico. The group of bottlenoses had lots of young animals, but I was still able to dive with them. They were hardly shy at all.
