Villa at the Grossen Wannsee, Cecilienhof Palace in Potsdam and the Berlin Wall Memorial

On the last day of my Berlin trip I headed towards Potsdam and the Sanssouci Palace. On the way to the palace we stopped at three important locations from recent German history. I cannot personally find the words to describe these places - how harmless they look when you visit them, and which historic dimensions lie behind them.

On the 20th of January 1942, the National Socialists decided on the 'Final Solution' for the Jews at the Wannsee Conference (Villa at the Grossen Wannsee).

Unfortunately it took another three years before the end of the National Socialists themselves was sealed by the Allies at the Potsdam Confeence (Cecilienhof Palace, Potsdam), and some war criminals were called to account at the Nürnberg Trials.

One result of the Potsdam Conference was the partition of Germany, which was immortalized in the history books by the Wall, as a symbol for the post-war period.
