Micron Technology wants to take over Lexar Media

The memory chip manufacturer Micron Technology Inc. wants to take over Lexar Media Inc.. Both companies are profiting from the boom in "Nand flash chips", which are selling very well in the new digital world (USB sticks, SD cards etc). Micron Technology mainly manufactures "NAND components", while Lexar produces whole ranges of products. An ideal addition to both companies really, in order to survive in the booming "nand memory market", which is at the same time suffering from a breathtaking drop in prices. Who doesn't know the continuous drop in price of electronics !? Should I buy the new camera now already - its bound to be cheaper next week...

Lexars takeover by Micron is delayed because large shareholders such as Carl Icahn want to get a higher price. Whatever, as a photographer I can only hope that the quality of Lexar cards does not suffer as a result. I am very happy with Lexar cards.

Here is an article on "Nand memory" from the Financial Times Deutschland.

The report on the takeover at stock-world.
