Sardine Run 2006 still no sardines
We had hardly any action in the water in the last few days, so have spent some time photographing Port St. Johns and surroundings. Port St Johns on the Wild Coast is a piece of authentic Africa at the mouth of the Umzimvubu River in the middle of dense subtropical jungles. As well as the indigenous population, Port St. Johns contains a colourful variety of people, as it is known as a place for dropouts and old hippies. We have also eaten at their places - I recommend the two "restaurants" Wood 'N' Spoon and Delicious Monster. Of the three beaches, the 'Second Beach', around 5 km away from the town centre, is the most beautiful, surrounded by green rainforest and banana trees.
