First day at Thanda Lodge
After a short night in my huge "Thanda Bungalow", I set off for my first "Game drive" at dawn. Just a few meters from Thanda Lodge, we already found some Impala, which first examined us very carefully, and then impassively wandered on. A little later we found a group of Cape buffalo which had just woken up, having spent the night under the shelter of some trees together with their young. The animals seemed to me to be very relaxed, and were not shy of the Land Rover. The peace in the Thanda Game Reserve and the freshness of the morning were also very pleasant. My companion from the Thanda team - Michelle Schwemmer - explained to me the background to the animals and plants. There is more information and statistics on the reserve here: Practical information.
I photographed the animals and landscape with two Nikon D2X cameras. For lenses, I used the Nikon lens VR 70-200m and 1.4 Nikon converter - as well as the Nikon lens 17-55mm.
At the moment I am using several Lexar 4 GB 133x cards as memory for the cameras.
