Journey on to Papua New Guinea
The further journey from Singapore via Port Moresby to Rabaul in the Bismark Archipelago (Papua Neu Guinea) - with Air Niugini - went off with no problems. The service in Business Class and the very reasonable rates for my excess baggage (around € 100) by Air Niugini was very customer friendly. In order to enter Papua New Guinea tourists need a tourist visa, which costs around 100 Kina.
On the trip from the small airport Rabaul to the port of Rabaul, I could see the old war materiel left by the Japanese and Americans after the Second World War. Papua New Guinea was one of the most important bases for the Japanese in the Pacific after the attack on Pearl Harbour.
At the port, the crew and other guests of the Star Dancer were waiting for me. That evening I prepared my diving and underwater photography equipment for the first day under water.
